What a crash rating actually means

M306,800 kg @ 48 km/h
M406,800 kg @ 64 km/h
M506,800 kg @ 80 km/h

ASTM F2656 ratings describe the vehicle a barrier has been tested to stop. M50 means a 6,800 kg truck at 80 km/h was halted with minimal penetration. If a tender specifies M50, an unrated bollard cannot be substituted.
