CommPort Technologies

CommPort Technologies builds under-vehicle inspection and surveillance systems (UVIS/UVSS) that scan a vehicle undercarriage at the checkpoint and flag anomalies automatically.

A mirror on a pole is still the default vehicle check at many Saudi gates, and it is slow, inconsistent and unpleasant work in July. Under-vehicle inspection systems replace it with a scan: the vehicle drives over an in-ground or surface unit, a high-resolution image of the entire undercarriage is captured in one pass, and the operator reviews it from an air-conditioned gatehouse.

CommPort Technologies is a United States manufacturer of under-vehicle inspection and surveillance systems, established in 1998 and headquartered in Jackson, New Jersey. The company reports more than 10,000 installations across 45 countries and five continents, serving over 200 government and enterprise clients including defence, diplomatic, airport, military and port operators.

The CPAS platform uses colour area-scan imaging to build a detailed undercarriage picture, and its software compares each new scan against stored reference images for that vehicle to highlight added objects, modifications or structural anomalies. Licence plate recognition and driver and cabin imaging can be captured in the same pass, so the inspection record ties image, plate and occupant together.

The range scales to the site. CPAS ML and MG networked multi-lane systems cover high-volume entries where several lanes must be screened simultaneously, while the FLEX-HH-300 portable handheld kit supports temporary checkpoints, event security and remote locations where no permanent civil works are possible.

The published operating envelope matters in the Kingdom: CommPort systems are specified to handle vehicles up to 78 tonnes at speeds up to 75 km/h and to operate between −40°C and +74°C. That upper temperature figure is the one that counts for an in-ground unit sitting in direct sun on an industrial access road in the Eastern Province through August.

Stebilex Systems supplies CommPort under-vehicle inspection systems across Saudi Arabia and supports them from Al Khobar and Riyadh. We advise on lane layout and civil works, integrate the scanner with ANPR, barriers, bollards and the site access control platform, and help security teams define the review workflow that turns a scan into an actual decision at the gate.
