FAAC JS 80 HA Automatic Retractable Security Bollard

The FAAC JS 80 HA is a hydraulically operated retractable bollard for vehicle access points that must combine daily traffic flow with genuine anti-ram protection. The 275 mm cylinder rises 1,000 mm above ground in roughly six seconds at 170 mm/s and retracts at 250 mm/s, so an authorised vehicle is cleared without holding up the queue behind it.

Crash performance is certified to PAS 68:2013, IWA 14-1:2013 and ASTM F2656/F2656M at the highest penetration rating, P1. The bollard arrests a 7,500 kg N3 truck at 80 km/h with a break-in resistance of 1,852,000 joules, and FAAC certifies it as still operational after the impact — a meaningful distinction when a site cannot afford to lose its entry point after a single event.

The hydraulic power unit is built into the bollard frame rather than sitting in a separate plant room, which removes buried oil lines from the civil design. It is rated IP67, uses biodegradable EU Ecolabel oil, and carries two replaceable filters. A mechanical lock holds the cylinder in the raised position if power is lost, and a key-operated manual release allows controlled lowering.

Control is handled by FAAC's integrated JE275 board: a two-digit display, eight inputs, four outputs, two dual-channel loop detector slots, a cycle counter, ten selectable operating logics and master/slave operation for arrays. LED lights on the head flash during movement and hold steady when raised, and an acoustic buzzer sounds on every cycle — both standard, not options.
