VITA V-Series X-ray Baggage and Parcel Scanners

VITA builds dual-energy X-ray screening systems for baggage, parcels and cargo, manufactured in Canada and deployed through offices including Saudi Arabia. The V-Series runs from the compact V50S through V60, V60S, V60D and V70 up to the V100, V100D and V100DT, so the same software platform covers a mailroom checkpoint and an airport hold-baggage position.

Tunnel size is the first specification decision. V50S offers a 550 x 330 mm aperture, V60 and V60D 615 x 425 mm, V70 755 x 555 mm, and the V100 family a 1010 x 1010 mm tunnel for pallets and oversized items. Conveyor load capacity runs from 165 kg on the V50S to 200 kg on the V70 and V100 models, with conveyor speed of 0.22 m/s across the range.

Detection performance differs meaningfully between models and should be matched to the threat profile, not simply to the tunnel size. Wire resolution ranges from 38 AWG on the V50S to 42 AWG on the V60 and V60D. Steel penetration runs from 32 mm on the V50S to 44 mm on the V60 family. Spatial resolution is 0.8 mm across most of the range and 0.5 mm on the V60D. Dual-view models such as V60D, V100D and V100DT carry two 160 kV generators for a second imaging axis.

All models use an L-shaped dual-energy detector array and a sealed oil bath with external fan cooling, giving a 100 percent duty cycle, which matters at a checkpoint that runs a full shift without a break. Operators work from a 24 inch 1920 x 1080 touchscreen running VITA OS, with Zeff-based colour coding, image edge enhancement, organic and inorganic stripping, Shield Alert, bi-directional scanning and one-touch timeline review of archived scans.
