HID Signo Reader Family

HID Signo is the reader family to specify when a Saudi project has to work with the credentials already in circulation while leaving room to move to something better later. The line covers Signo 20 and 20K in mullion format, Signo 40, 40K and 40T in single-gang format, plus the Signo Biometric Reader 25B and a Signo enrollment reader.

One reader handles the whole credential estate. On 13.56 MHz it reads Seos, iCLASS SE, iCLASS SR, iCLASS, MIFARE Classic, MIFARE DESFire EV1, EV2 and EV3, FeliCa and CEPAS. On 125 kHz it reads HID Prox, Indala, AWID and EM. Bluetooth handles HID Mobile Access credentials powered by Seos, and Apple Enhanced Contactless Polling supports credentials held in Apple Wallet. Legacy 125 kHz support can be deactivated once a migration is complete.

Security and wiring are where Signo differs from older readers. OSDP is supported out of the box on every model with native Secure Channel, alongside Wiegand and Clock-and-Data, over either a 0.5 metre pigtail or a terminal strip. Credential handling sits on an EAL 5+ certified secure element, and readers are managed remotely through HID Reader Manager rather than by presenting configuration cards at each door.

Practical detail for installers: Signo includes a surface detection feature that recalibrates the reader to optimise read range on the mounting surface it finds. HID still recommends plastic spacers on metallic surfaces. Typical read range is 4 to 10 cm on 13.56 MHz single-technology cards and 6 to 10 cm on 125 kHz. The readers are UL 294 rated for indoor and outdoor use at IP65, across minus 35 to plus 66 degrees C.
