GEM Electromagnetic Locks by Gianni Industries
Surface-mount electromagnetic locks from 300 to 1,200 lbs holding force, with dual 12/24 VDC operation, standard MOV surge protection and UL fire listings.
GEM is the brand of Gianni Industries, and the electromagnetic lock range is organised simply by holding force. The indoor GEM series covers single-magnet models at 300, 600, 800 and 1,200 lbs, plus double-magnet versions GEM-D600, GEM-D800 and GEM-D1200 for double-leaf doors, where the rating is applied per magnet.
Electrically all models use automatic voltage selection between 12 and 24 VDC, drawing 500 mA at 12 VDC or 250 mA at 24 VDC, doubled on the D models. That dual-voltage behaviour is useful in practice because it removes the jumper-setting mistakes that cause call-backs, and it lets one part number serve doors fed from different power supplies across a building.
MOV spike and surge protection is fitted as standard rather than offered as an option, which matters on sites where door hardware shares containment with other loads. The armature uses a mechanical kick-off so there is no residual magnetism holding the door after release. Bodies are anodised aluminium in US28 finish, surface mounted and reversible for left or right hand doors.
Options are ordered by suffix and should be decided at specification stage rather than retrofitted. M adds a bond sensor with bi-colour LED on an SPDT contact rated 0.5 A at 125 VAC or 1 A at 24 VDC. DS adds a door status sensor. TD adds a relock time delay adjustable from 1 to 80 seconds. BZ adds a door-held-open alarm on the same range. LD adds a larger 37.5 by 15 mm configurable red or green LED with a reset input, available on the GEM-800 and GEM-1200 only. Standard models without a suffix are unmonitored.
For external doors and harsh positions Gianni offers a weatherproof range in stainless steel housings sealed with fire-rated epoxy, including GL-80F, 10003F, GL600-S, GL850, GL-1200F, GL-1200S and the GL-1800F-IOTB at 1,800 lbs. A shear lock, GS200, covers double-action doors swinging through 180 degrees.
