Apollo Security Access Controllers

Enterprise access control panels with distributed offline decision making, OSDP Secure Channel, TLS 1.3 and AES-256, scaling to 250,000 cardholders per controller.

Intelligent Access Control Controllers

Apollo Security builds the controller layer that sits between readers and the head-end software. The current lineup centres on the ASP series, with ASP-4 and ASP-2 as main controllers, ASP-RI4 and ASP-RI2M as reader interfaces, and ASP-IO168, ASP-XO8 and ASP-IO21 for alarm input and output. The earlier AAN-100, AAN-32 and AAN-4/2/1 controllers and AIM series reader interfaces remain in the field on many sites.

ASP-4 is the model to specify for new work. It handles four doors natively, eight with an OSDP licence, and supports up to 128 readers, holding 250,000 cardholders and a configurable event buffer above 100,000 events. Reader protocols cover OSDP, Wiegand, Clock-and-Data, SSCPv2, FIPS 201 PKI and biometric devices, so a mixed estate of legacy and current readers can terminate on one panel.

Security posture is where the ASP series separates from older hardware. It runs TLS 1.3 with AES256-SHA256 and OSDP Secure Channel, on an embedded Linux platform that supports scripting and clustering across up to 32 units. Communications are two 10/100 Ethernet ports, two RS-485 ports from 9.6 to 115.2 kbaud, and USB 2.0, with IPv4 and IPv6 and SNMP. I/O is 16 inputs and eight Form-C relays rated 2 A.

Offline behaviour is the reason distributed controllers are specified in the first place. Apollo controllers store cardholder data and decision logic locally and continue granting or denying access when the host connection drops, which matters on campuses where the network crosses buildings. The AIM-4SL sub-controller explicitly maintains normal functions offline, holding 20,000 cardholders and 7,000 events for four doors.

Two points for consultants to note. Only the current ASP series carries UL listings, with UL 294 and UL 2610 on ASP-4 and a broader set including UL 294B, UL 1076 and ULC listings on ASP-2 and ASP-IO168, while the legacy AAN and AIM datasheets carry CE and RoHS only. Also, dormakaba announced in August 2026 that it had acquired the operating business of ADME, Inc. trading as Apollo Security, so lifecycle position is worth confirming. Stebilex supplies and integrates Apollo controllers across Saudi Arabia from Al Khobar and Riyadh.
